  7.           DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  9.           Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  10.           before buying it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue
  11.           using it, you are expected to register.  Individual programs
  12.           differ on details   some request registration while others
  13.           require it, some specify a maximum trial period.  With
  14.           registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  15.           using the software to an updated program with printed manual. 
  16.                Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
  17.           software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few
  18.           specific exceptions as stated below.  Shareware authors are
  19.           accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the
  20.           programs are of comparable quality.  (In both cases, there are
  21.           good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method
  22.           of distribution.  The author specifically grants the right to
  23.           copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to
  24.           a specific group.  For example, some authors require written
  25.           permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  26.           Shareware.
  27.                Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. 
  28.           You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  29.           whether it's commercial or Shareware.  The Shareware system makes
  30.           fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy. 
  31.           And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.  Shareware
  32.           has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  33.           product, you don't pay for it.

  48.                The trial version of  Personalized Training Diary  is a
  49.           "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user for
  50.           evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but please
  51.           do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The
  52.           essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal-
  53.           computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet
  54.           to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new
  55.           products.  If you find this program useful and find that you are
  56.           using  Personalized Training Diary  and continue to use 
  57.           Personalized Training Diary  after a reasonable trial period, you
  58.           must make a registration payment of $49.95 to Lake fFfips
  59.           Software.  The $49.95 registration fee will license one copy for
  60.           use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this

  74.           be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one

  80.           register and pay for their copies of  Personalized Training Diary 
  81.            within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. 
  82.           Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting Lake fFfips
  83.           Software.
  84.                Anyone distributing  Personalized Training Diary  for any
  85.           kind of remuneration must first contact Lake fFfips Software for
  86.           authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted
  87.           to distributors recognized by the ASP as adhering to its
  88.           guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors may
  89.           begin offering   Personalized Training Diary  immediately. 
  90.           However, Lake fFfips Software must still be advised so that the
  91.           distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of
  92.           Personalized Training Diary.
  93.                You are encouraged to pass a copy of the trial version of  
  94.           Personalized Training Diary  along to your friends for
  95.           evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they
  96.           find that they can use it.  All registered users will receive a
  97.           copy of the latest version of PTD  with registration and trial
  98.           information removed and a professionally printed copy of the
  99.           manual.
